LOOKS LIKE WE’RE set for a cloudy enough weekend, but who can say no to ice cream?More specifically, who can say no to ice cream that only costs 1 cent?
All you need is an iPhone SE, 6 (or a later model) or an Apple Watch with Apple Pay set up.
Apple pay is a digital wallet, kind of like contactless payment, only on your mobile phone instead of on your bank card. It works on contactless terminals and can be fairly handy if you forget your physical wallet.
The feature has just been made available to AIB customers, so AIB are celebrating it by driving trucks to Dublin, Cork and Galway and giving everyone extremely cheap ice creams.
The promotion started yesterday and will continue until Sunday July 30. The ice cream trucks will be cashless of course, and only accept payment for the €0.01 ice creams through Apple Pay.
Here are the locations you can grab an ice cream from:
Saturday:
Dublin
- 10.30am -1.30pm: Killiney Beach (main car park)
- 2.00pm – 3.00pm: Marlay Park (front car park)
- 3.00pm – 6.30pm: Phoenix Park (Wellington Monument/Dublin Zoo)
Galway
- 12.30pm – 2.30pm: Salthill (Ladies Beach)
- 2.45pm – 4.30pm: Spanish Arch
Cork
- 1.30pm – 3.30pm: Castlepark Marina, Kinsale
Sunday:
Dublin – Croke Park: 2.15pm – 5.30pm
- Des Higginbotham Interiors, Junction of Fairview Strand and Richmond Road
- Dublin Electrical Wholesalers, North Circular Road
- Le Petit Breton, Drumcondra Road Lower
If you’ve already splashed out about €800 on an iPhone, you might as well get something free in return for it for once.
